Mesopotamia Mathematics
Have you ever wondered how the Mesopotamians did math. How they measured things, what objects they used
for math, and how math was used in daily life led to a developed civilization.
A Mathematician is someone who uses extensive knowledge of mathematics. Also, a Mathematician has scientific
and engineering achievements, and uses a lot of abstract knowledge
One of the items that they used was a shekel. And it allowed goods to be evaluated on a single scale and a
shekel is a weight and a coin.
The Mesopotamians used Babylonian numerals one through sixty. This was the base sixty number system. In fact
a little something to know is that Babylonian numerals are written in cuneiform and was frequently used.
Mesopotamians did not have money like we have today. They used weights of things for commerce like foods.
One of the things they used was called a shekel and that was a weight used for trading all types of items.
What did they use for measuring back in Mesopotamia times? They used a cubit for measuring, and a cubit
measures from the tip of your finger to the tip of your elbow.
I hope you learned a lot of how they did math back in mesopotamian times. Like what they used to measure
and trade with, Some of the objects that they used for math back then. That is how they did and used math back
then. And I hope that you learned a lot from this and maybe you might be the next Mathematician.
